| ASCs should update medical debt contracts by July 1, 2025Last year Governor Newsom signed SB 1061 (Limon) into law. It amended the California Civil Code to make several changes aimed at protecting consumers from the negative impacts of medical debt. “Medical debt” is defined as “a debt owed by a consumer to a person whose primary business is providing medical services, products, or devices, or to the person’s agent or assignee, for the provision of medical services, products, or devices” and includes debt a consumer incurs for services provided by healthcare facilities including ASCs. |
