Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Oasis Surgery Center a key member of our operating room team, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality surgical care for our patients. You will assist surgeons and nurses by preparing the operating room, managing sterile instruments, and supporting patient care throughout surgical procedures in an ambulatory surgery setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment according to procedural needs.
- Ensure proper functioning of surgical equipment and instruments prior to procedures.
- Participate in surgical counts and ensure sterile field integrity throughout procedures.
- Pass instruments, sponges, and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and maintain aseptic technique at all times.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and preparing for surgery in a safe and respectful manner.
- Clean, sterilize, and restock instruments and supplies following procedures.
- Adhere to all infection control policies, safety standards, and ASC regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other team members.
- Document care and assist with patient flow and throughput as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist training program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential (preferred, depending on state requirements).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong understanding of sterile technique and OR protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred
- Minimum 3-4 years of OR experience (Ambulatory Surgery Center experience a plus).
- Advanced certifications (e.g., NCCT Certified Surgical Technologist, First Aid, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)).
- Experience with multiple surgical specialties (orthopedics, pain management, retina & ophthalmology).
