In this session, you will learn the key elements of an Infection Prevention Plan and what your responsibilities are as the Infection Preventionist in an ASC.  The IP Plan is a living document that you will create and use throughout the year to manage the surveillance activities and infection prevention in your facility.  Part of this plan is performing an annual risk assessment which helps to define the areas of highest risk for your patients, staff and ASC, and the importance up updating this tool on an ongoing basis.

Scoping Out the Newest GI Guidelines-ST91 and The Business End of a Scope

What are the latest changes with the new ST-91 and how do they affect current practice at GI centers? This presentation will review ST-91 required changes versus recommended, the “why” behind these changes, considerations for workflow, and implementation strategies. This presentation covers a business review of endoscope usage in the ASC. Deciding the adequate number of scopes for your center and awareness of the impact of single-use items to assist in infection prevention measures are discussed. The burden of an exogenous infection on the center is reviewed.

C-diffs continued presence in the outpatient setting remains apparent with the increased utilization of antibiotics during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
