RN Operating Room Nurse Manager
SCA Health - Presidio Surgery Center
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operating Room Nurse Manager to lead and coordinate surgical nursing operations within our healthcare facility. This role requires a dynamic leader who can oversee daily OR activities, ensure compliance with best practices, and foster a culture of excellence in patient care and staff development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and mentor OR nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure optimal OR efficiency.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement professional development initiatives.
Operational & Clinical Excellence
- Ensure seamless coordination of surgical procedures while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Develop and enforce OR policies, protocols, and safety measures in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize surgical workflows.
Quality & Compliance
- Monitor and improve patient outcomes by implementing evidence-based nursing practices.
- Ensure adherence to infection control, sterilization procedures, and hospital policies.
- Stay updated with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards (e.g., JCAHO, AORN).
Resource & Budget Management
- Manage OR budgets, equipment procurement, and inventory control to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies or surgical techniques to enhance efficiency and patient care.
Crisis Management & Problem-Solving
- Act as a key decision-maker in critical situations, resolving conflicts and operational challenges.
- Lead emergency preparedness and response efforts within the surgical unit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree (MSN, MHA, or MBA) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of OR nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Licenses & Certifications: Active RN license, BLS/ACLS certification; CNOR preferred.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
